Home swaps take advantage of the fact that your home is empty while you are away on vacation.
Why pay to stay in a hotel or to rent a vacation home when you can trade a week or two at your home for a week or two at someone else’s home?
The typical home swap works like this: “You stay in my home while I stay in yours.” A homeowner whose home is located in Destination A wishes to travel affordably to Destination B. This homeowner searches for another homeowner who has a home in Destination B who would like to travel to Destination A. The two homeowners agree on simultaneous travel dates and agree to the home swap.
If finding someone who wants to use your home at the same time you want to use their home sounds difficult, then you will understand why we founded The Vacation Exchange Network.
As a member of The Vacation Exchange Network, you can arrange this “typical” type of home exchange with one very important difference. Your stays need not be simultaneous. Because the homes in our Network are all vacation homes and second homes, you can take your vacation when you want, and your house exchange partner can vacation when they want. We call this type of home exchange a “Direct Exchange,” because you and another member swap directly with one another.
We also offer our members a second, more flexible type of home swap, called an “Indirect Exchange.” With an Indirect Exchange, you use another member’s home even if they choose not to use your home. Perhaps you’d like to holiday in Hawaii, and you find the perfect home in our Network. Its location, size, and amenities completely meet your vacation needs, and the home is available when you’d like to take your vacation or holiday. When you talk to the Hawaii vacation home owner, however, she may not be interested in traveling to your home. This doesn’t mean your vacation dreams are shattered. Rather, you can simply arrange an Indirect Exchange. You use her vacation home, and she receives an Exchange Credit, which she can use as payment for any future home exchange. The two of you agree on the details of the exchange, and you forward to a fabulous yet affordable vacation!
