We’ll do all of the initial searching for your home swap by contacting members who have houses, condominiums, or flats in your requested vacation area. Upon finding homes available for trade during the period you requested, we will send you an email with all of the exchange options that we found for you, including members’ contact information and their preference for a
Direct exchange or an
Indirect exchange.
Or, if you prefer to find your own home exchange, just browse through our
Network of vacation properties to find potential home trade partners. Our listings are organized by location. Just click on the desired state on our map for
US home swaps or on “International Properties” for
international trades, and you will find the features of each vacation home are fully described along with the other members' contact information.
Whether we make the initial contact or you do, you then contact the other Network members, via e-mail or telephone, to discuss property availability and the specifics of the home exchange. Since you are in contact with the other owner, you’ll feel comfortable knowing with whom you are trading. The Vacation Exchange Network provides
home swap guidelines to ensure that a smooth exchange occurs.
When discussing the details of your home swap, be sure to decide whether a direct exchange or an indirect home exchange works best for you and your trading partner.
To make a
Direct Exchange, you agree with another member to trade a stay in your home for a stay in his or her home. The exchange dates need not be simultaneous.
To make an
Indirect Exchange, another member allows you to stay in his or her home, but he or she decides not to use your home. That other member receives an Exchange Credit which is used as payment when exchanging with any of our other members. There is no time restriction on using the Exchange Credit.
Our members are just like you -- vacation home owners looking to trade a stay in their home for a stay in someone else’s. They will welcome your email or phone call as a vacation opportunity!
The Vacation Exchange Network’s Home Exchange Process - Step by Step
The exchange process is quick and easy:
Step One: Decide where and when you’d like to vacation.
Step Two: Provide the details of your desired exchange to our exchange coordinators, or browse our listings of vacation homes.
Step Three: Contact the owner of the home where you would like to stay, and determine whether you will
make a direct exchange or an indirect exchange.
Step Four: Finalize the details of your home swap.
